Volunteer staff are important to the success of the programs at Intombi Shelter. The girls have so much to learn in terms of normative society, and they learn best through observing.
Intombi presents various life skills courses every day and we rely on the input of volunteers to make it possible. Volunteers have made Intombi the international success that it is. Volunteers planned the project in 1995, a
nd bought the premises in 1996, and have contributed greatly to its 24/7/365 programmes ever since.
A simple Saturday trip to the Zoo is a major and memorable event in these young people's lives, but it is impossible for the staff to make these trips by themselves - we just don't have enough staff to do that. The shelter is always open. Thank God for volunteers who bring light to these young ones so worthy of our respect, love and caring.
Hope is not automatic, a luxury, a nice-to-have, or an earned privilege - but a necessity, a requirement for life, without which even death is not a merciful option. We provide hope to destitute girls on the streets.
