Task Description and Duties
Section 26.02 of the Constitution prescribes the following duties for the Vice President. (please note: this extract may differ from the Constitution)
Notwithstanding any other duties and tasks prescribed by the Governing Documents, the Law, local ordinances and stipulations of contracts entered in between The House and other parties, additional duties of the Vice President shall include:
- The Vice President is the presiding officer of the Standing Committee on Programs
- The Vice-President, as the Board's ambassador, shall assist the President with acquisition of information to make decisions and shall regulate media exposure of The House's programmes.
- The Vice-President acts as a Board advisor in all matters, investigating alternative views and responses, and shall stand in for the President in times of need.
- The Vice-President monitors the South African Government's and The House's compliance with the International Convention on the Rights of the Child and the Child Care Act.
- The Vice President may be a co-signatory on documents and effects that pertain to expenditure of funds.
- Working with the Chief Executive Officer and the President the Vice President continually monitors the culture in programmes, the affectivity of programmes, also evaluating, on behalf of the Board of Directors, the measure in which perceived needs are addressed, and the abilities of staff; thereby facilitating the Board's proactive nature.
- The Vice-President, in association with the Board of Patrons, maintains, or causes to be maintained, a regular newsletter despatched to all members.
